Filing for clients in
A preparer who actually answers the phone.
MLM Tax Services LLC is a small, independent practice built around one idea: tax work should be explained to you in words you would use yourself. That is easier to do when the person preparing your return is also the person you talk to.
More about Matthew and the practiceOne preparer, start to finish
You are not handed off to a rotating desk of seasonal staff. The person who prepares your return is the person who answers your questions about it.
Remote by design
Documents move securely, meetings happen by phone or video, and signatures are electronic. Distance never becomes the reason you settle for a chain.
Year-round, not just spring
Books, payroll, planning and questions do not stop in April. Neither does the help — reach out whenever something in your life or business changes.
Five ways to get your money and your paperwork in order.
Individual tax preparation (1040s)
Federal and state returns, filed electronically
Your personal return prepared by a person who reads the whole thing, not a form that gets pushed through.

Four steps, and you never leave your kitchen table.
Everything happens over the phone, by text, and through secure document sharing — which means you get the same careful preparation whether you are in Michigan, Texas or anywhere else.
- 01
Send your documents
It starts with a free consultation. Then you send what you have — W-2s, 1099s, receipts, last year’s return — however is easiest for you. If you are not sure what to send, you will be told exactly what is needed.
- 02
I prepare and review
Your return is prepared by hand, with every credit and deduction you qualify for checked before it goes anywhere. Then we walk through it together, in plain language, while there is still time to ask anything.
- 03
You approve and sign
Nothing is filed until you have seen the numbers and signed off on them. Your signature is electronic, and your questions get answered before you sign — not after.
- 04
Filed electronically
Your federal and state returns are filed electronically, and you get confirmation when they are accepted. If a refund is coming, you will know what to expect and when to expect it.

Every return is reviewed with the client before it is filed — in plain language.
Matthew Manson, and a practice built on being reachable.
MLM Tax Services LLC is owned and run by Matthew Manson. It is deliberately a small practice: individual returns, small business returns, and the bookkeeping and payroll that keeps both of them honest.
Because everything is handled remotely, the practice is not limited to one town or one state. Clients send their documents securely, meet by phone or video, and sign electronically — and they get a preparer who knows their situation from one year to the next.

Remembered with love by her family.
Plain answers, written down.
Short pieces on the questions that come up most — what to gather, what to keep, and what to do when the year did not go the way you planned.

What to gather before we start your return
A short checklist that turns a stressful afternoon of hunting for paperwork into one folder, sent once.

Bookkeeping is a monthly habit, not a spring chore
An hour a month keeps your books honest and makes tax time a review instead of a reconstruction.

If your question is not here, ask it directly — the first conversation costs nothing.

From there you send your documents securely, I prepare the return and go through it with you, and once you are happy with it you approve and sign electronically. Yes. I work with clients in all 50 states. Returns are prepared remotely and filed with the federal government and with your state, and everything is handled over the phone, by text and through secure document sharing. Where you live never gets in the way of getting your return done.
A good starting point is: photo ID; Social Security numbers for you and your dependents; last year's return; income documents such as W-2s, 1099s and K-1s; records of any expenses you want to claim; mortgage interest and property tax statements; and tuition or student loan statements. Anything else that changed during the year is worth mentioning too. The exact list depends on your situation, and once we talk I will tell you precisely what is needed — nothing more than that.
Fees depend on how complex your return is, so every engagement starts with a free consultation and a quote. You will know your fee before any work begins, and there are no surprises later — nothing charged after the fact and nothing you did not agree to first.
Yes. Federal and state returns are prepared and filed together, so you are never left to file one of them on your own. That includes clients who moved states during the year or worked in more than one state — multi-state situations are handled as part of the return.
Get on the list for January 1, 2027.
MLM Tax Services opens on January 1, 2027 and takes new clients on a yearly basis, so the season’s list is built in advance. The application is short — your name, your phone, your email and what you need help with — and it costs nothing to send.
Matthew reads every one himself and replies personally, usually within one business day. You do not have to know what you need before you apply; most people arrive with a question rather than an answer.
